My work focuses on vendor-independent architectures that preserve local control, connect existing assets and give operators a durable path from individual applications to a Unified Control Centre.

Freedom from equipment-level lock-in

Panorama Suite is developed by an industrial software publisher rather than a PLC or equipment manufacturer. This supports a consistent OT/IT data layer across mixed installed bases and gives asset owners more freedom in future application, upgrade and integration choices.

SCADA, GeoSCADA, BMS, EMS, Historian, PSIM and MES applications can share a common data architecture, with standard protocols and interoperability credentials including OPC UA and BACnet BTL.

Unified Control Centre, hypervision or integrated operations centre?

A Unified Control Centre is a common operational environment that consolidates data, alarms, visualisation, history and workflows from multiple OT, IT, building and security systems. Depending on the sector and country, a similar architecture may be described as a unified or integrated operations centre, a hypervision platform, a manager of managers or an umbrella system. These expressions overlap, but are not always technically identical.

This is the consistent cross-sector umbrella term used on this website. CODRA's official wording uses the US spelling, Unified Control Center; this site otherwise follows South African and UK English.

Operations terminology

Unified or integrated operations centre

These terms are common in industry, utilities, mining and multi-site operations. Operations control centre, central control centre and command and control centre are also used in particular sectors.

Integration terminology

Hypervision, manager of managers and umbrella system

Hypervision is widely used for the layer above several supervision systems, especially in Francophone, building and security contexts. Manager of Managers describes a federating architecture; umbrella system is a useful but informal expression.

What is the difference between supervision and hypervision?

Supervision usually operates one process, system or application. Hypervision sits above several supervision or specialist systems to provide a consolidated view, cross-system context and coordinated workflows. The precise boundary depends on the project.

What does Manager of Managers mean?

Manager of Managers describes a federating architecture that aggregates information and alarms from multiple underlying management systems. It does not by itself guarantee the control, historian, workflow, engineering or lifecycle capabilities of a complete Unified Control Centre.

How is a Unified Control Centre different from PSIM, IBMS, SOC or NOC?
